Barrbunin Beek Cultural Immersion Workshops for Schools

Engaging. Educational. Grounded in Culture.

Barrbunin Beek invites schools to step into a vibrant learning experience led by First Nations educators, artists, and cultural practitioners. Our Cultural Immersion Workshops are designed to educate, inspire, and connect students to the living cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

These workshops are not performances — they are invitations to participate in cultural practice. Rooted in deep knowledge systems and offered with care, our workshops bring stories, language, movement, and making to life in accessible, age-appropriate ways.

We’ve developed seven core modules, each designed to offer immersive, hands-on, and meaningful learning for students across all year levels.

Cultural Immersion Modules

  1. Traditional Games (Marngrook & More)
Learn about and participate in traditional games that build teamwork, connection to land, and cultural values through play.

  2. Bush Tucker & Aboriginal Foods
Smell, touch and taste native ingredients. Learn about traditional food sources, preparation, and seasonal knowledge systems.

  3. Art & Symbolism Workshop
Create meaningful artworks using traditional and contemporary Aboriginal styles, symbols and materials. Discuss the stories behind the art.

  4. Tools & Artifacts
Hands-on learning with traditional tools and artefacts. Explore daily life, sustainability and innovation across Aboriginal cultures.

  5. Caring for Country & Environmental Lore
Learn about land care from an Aboriginal perspective. Understand Country as kin and explore how we can build respectful relationships with nature.
